I would like to share with you something exciting to me which I hope will be for you as well.

For the last 10 years, SikhNet has been coordinating a project to create the first complete audio recording of Siri Guru Granth Sahib read IN ENGLISH. (Read the Mr. SikhNet blog post from 10 years ago).

The idea was to have a complete audio recording (like an Akhand Path) that people can listen to in their home, office, car, etc. We wanted it to be something beautiful that could be played all the time. So as part of the recording, we have added soothing nature sounds and other background music to add to the mood. This complete recording of the English translation of Siri Guru Granth Sahib is over 92 HOURS long and is available NOW!

To make this recording widely available to Sikhs and non-Sikhs alike we tried to create many ways for people to discover it and listen. Use whichever option works best for you!

For those for whom Punjabi is not the first language, understanding the words of the Gurus can be a challenge. This recording helps make the Gurus’ universal message accessible to people of all faiths and backgrounds because ultimately the Siri Guru Granth Sahib is for everyone’s benefit.  It is through translations that many people are able to learn and get inspiration.

I find that as I listen to this recording at home, in my car or at work,  I am able to consciously take in the message of the Guru and have more opportunities to learn and remember what the Guru is telling me about life.

Have a listen and let us know what you think! We would love to know how it supports you in your life.

Your donations make this work possible. We are very excited about this project which is brought to you by SikhNet. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Help us carry forward more such projects and serve the global Sikh Community:

Special Thanks…

I want to acknowledge the efforts to two people that were critical in completing this project.

In the recording you will hear 10 different people who participated in the recording, however, the majority of the audio recording was done by Sirgun Kaur over the past 7 years. She is a wonderfully sweet and humble person, and musician well known for her many Kirtan/Mantra albums. Even when she got pregnant and her child was born, she continued reading and recording, with the commitment of completing the project.

SikhNet’s very own Jagjeevan Singh (SikhNet’s Gurbani Media Center manager) took on managing this project in 2017 when he first joined the SikhNet team. He really made this project happen! He spent a huge amount of time working with people to record the audio,  and along with reviewing every audio segment for mistakes, he obtained corrections from the readers. You will also hear the beautiful background sounds and music that he mixed into the complete 80-hour recording.

Thanks also to Charan Singh (India) who supported this project in the early stages and to the following people who did the seva of reading and recording the audio.

  • Sirgun Kaur (Phoenix)
  • Sat Nirmal Kaur (Espanola)
  • Sat Kirin Kaur (Espanola)
  • Nirvair Singh (Espanola)
  • Himmat Singh (Miri Piri Academy)
  • Gurumustuk Singh (Espanola)
  • Guruka Singh (Espanola)
  • Dharam Singh (Seattle)
  • Gurujot Singh (Espanola)
  • Guru Sadhana Kaur (Espanola)

The SGGS English Translation used in these recordings is by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa (with the Exception of the Japji Translation by Guruka Singh Khalsa).
