Sathiguru Arjun Dev Jee Maharaj is blessing us with this shabad today. Sathiguru Jee begins the shabad -

Dheen dharadh nivaar t(h)aakur raakhai jan kee aap ||
That t(h)aakur Waheguru Akal Purakh, what is His nature? Guru Arjun Dev Jee Maharaj is telling us His nature, Waheguru Jee's virtues are that Waheguru raakhai jan kee aap. He protects those who are His servants. Raakhai means to protect, jan means those who serve Waheguru. But alongside this, dheen dharadh nivaar. That t(h)aakur, That Lord, That Waheguru nivaar - eliminates, takes away the pains of the lowly, those people that are downtrodden those people who have no-one else, those people who are calling out and no-one else to help them. Waheguru Jee stands with them. Yes Waheguru protects His servants, raakhai jan kee aap; but Waheguru Jee also protects those who have no-one else. We can see this in various instances throughout the Sikh Itihiaas, the history of our Gurus. Those who had no-one else to call their own, those who were downtrodden, those people who were called low caste were protected by The Guru. Guru Nanak Dev Jee Maharaj took that Bhai Mardana Jee who was called a maraasi by the world. That's a type of caste originating in the Muslim religion. It's called a certain type of person who knows the genealogy of families and goes singing from village to village to put it simply. They were seen as lowly and untouchables. Guru Nanak Dev Jee said no, Bhai Mardana is my bhai, my brother, he's not an untouchable. Dheen dharadh nivaar t(h)aakur. My t(h)aakur takes away the pain, the dharadh of those who are dheen, who are lowly, who have no-one else to look after them.

Tharan thaaran har nidhh dhookh n sakai biaap ||1||
My Waheguru is tharan thaaran. Tharan thaaran in this case means the ship who liberates all, who carries all across. My Waheguru is that ship Who can carry all across. My Waheguru is nidhh, He is the treasure of all treasures. Dhookh n sakai biaap, if you climb aboard the ship of The Guru's shabad, The Guru's word, if you start meditating upon Waheguru, dhookh - pain, cannot biaap - affect you.

Saadhhoo sa(n)g bhajahu gupaal ||
Maharaj Jee is saying go into the sangat, go into the congregation, go amongst those who are meditating upon Waheguru and bhajahu gupaal. Learn how to meditate upon Waheguru amongst them. Sit amongst them, and when they recite Waheguru Waheguru, recite Waheguru Waheguru with them.

Aan sa(n)jam kishh n soojhai eih jathan kaatt kal kaal || rehaao ||
Guru Arjun Dev Jee Maharaj says there is no other sa(n)jam, there is no other practice or measure or discipline, kiss n soojhai - that I know of. Maharaj Jee says I cannot soojhai, I cannot think of any other, I cannot understand any other, I cannot contemplate any other, I cannot comprehend any other way. Eih jathan kaatt kal kaal. If you want to kaatt - cut through, kal kaal - this dark age of Kalyug, this age of darkness, this age of falsehood, if you want to survive amongst all the darkness around you, if you want that light inside you to shine amongst all the darkness, the only way is going amongst the congregation of those who are meditaing upon Waheguru and chanting Waheguru Jee's Name. Rehaao - pause and think about this.

Aadh a(n)th dhaeiaal pooran this binaa nehee koe ||
Aadh - before anything was made, in time immemorial, a(n)th - when everything of this world will end, dhaeiaal - Waheguru is always kind, Waheguru is always merciful, pooran - Waheguru is perfect. Waheguru has been there before time began, Waheguru will be there when everything ends. This binaa nehee koe. Without Waheguru, there is no other.

Janam maran nivaar har jap simar suaamee soe ||2||
If you want your cycle of janam - birth, and maran - death to be nivaar - to be eradicated, har jap. Jap means to chant The Name of God with your tongue. Simar suaamee soe. By doing jap, by meditating with your tongue, that recitation with your tongue one day will become simran. Simran is that stage of life where while sitting, sleeping, eating, working, going to work, coming back, all those times The Name of God is pumping through your head, pumping through your inner soul. How will that be achieved? By doing jap, by meditating with your tongue, by reciting with your tongue. That recitation, that jap will then become simran. That recitation with your tongue will become meditation throughout your whole body. Simran suaamee soe - meditate upon that Lord God Waheguru.

Baedh si(n)mrith kathhai saasath bhagath karehi beechaar ||
The shaashtars, the Vedas, the simritees, and those people who are bhagaths, who meditate upon Waheguru, karehi beechaar - they all focus on Waheguru, they all talk of this God. But how are you going to find this God?

Mukath paaeeai saadhhasa(n)gath binas jaae a(n)dhhaar ||3||
If you want to be liberated from this world, the only way you can find liberation is in the congregation. If you sit down amongst the holy and you meditate upon The Name of God, if you say Sri Waheguru , binas jaae a(n)dhhaar. In this way, the a(n)dhhaar, the darkness of your life greed, anger, anxiety, all of these things will binas. This darkness will go away with the lighting of the lamp of God's Name in the sangat. Just like a lamp with a wick in it just needs to be put next to another lamp, and all you need to light a candle is to put it up against another candle which is glowing, in the same way when you go into the sangat, there are many glowing candles sitting there. Sitting next to them, you never know when the grace of God will happen, and your inner candle your inner soul will light up as well. Then your darkness will leave.

Charan kamal adhhaar jan kaa raas poo(n)jee eaek ||
When your soul is lit up with The Name of God, what happens? You become a jan, you become a servant of Waheguru. Charan kamal - means the lotus feet of God. Remember we talk about this in many of the explanations, 'chitt charan naam' Guru Gobind Singh Jee says. If you want the feet of God, meditate upon The Name of God, that is the charan, the lotus feet of God. That Naam becomes the adhhaar, the support in happiness, in pain, at all of these times, the servant of Waheguru always depends upon The Name. The Name of God gets you through the happy times and the sad times. raas poo(n)jee eaek. The raas, the poo(n)jee - the wealth, the capital. That wealth that the servant of The Lord depends upon is The Name of God. He doesn't look to worldly wealth. He/she has the wealth of God's Name.

Thaan maan dheebaan saachaa naanak kee prabh ttaek ||4||2||20||
That person's than - that person's strength, that person's maan - that person's honour, and that person's dheebaan - that person's support is saachaa, is The True God. Naanak kee prabh ttaek. Sathiguru Arjun dev Jee Maharaj says that I have taken the ttaek, that support of That True God, of That Akal Purakh. So Guru piaareyo, Sathiguru Maharaj is saying to us, go into the sangat, meditate upon Waheguru, and you will be blessed with this true support, this support which will never go, this strength which can never be taken away, this honour which cannot be taken away by any of the powers of the world.

Charan kamal adhhaar jan kaa raas poo(n)jee eaek ||
