The newly elected president of the U.S. Biden has seemed to make a point in creating a more diverse administration. Early January 2021 Sabrina Kaur was selected as his deputy press secretary.

The newest announcement was of Daleep Singh. Though he did work with the Obama administration his new role in the Biden era is as the deputy of two important offices: NEC (national economic council) and NSA (national security advisor) the latter being the office which is the primary source of advice on issues of national security.

Clearly Daleep distinguished himself in the Obama era in order to be trusted with a position in these two important offices.

Having a Sikh in such a position bodes well for Sikhs in the U.S. who have been subjected to discrimination and are largely unknown to the American public. Having more minority voices at such levels doesn't a perfect nation make, but do lend to more egalitarian outcomes.
