[ਵਾਰਾਂ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਦਾਸ : ਵਾਰ ੧ ਪਉੜੀ ੨੩ ਪੰ. (੧-੮)]
- (Bhai Gurdas Ji– The Original Scribe of Guru Granth Sahib, Ballad 23 1-8)

Change is the only permanent being. This article is about change. A change for brightening mankind and Earth. A change for the welfare of all.

Due to change, moments become hours that become days, that turn into years, centuries, and millenniums. Subsequently, after millenniums, an age is formed. According to the ancient Eastern scriptures, a Yuga is an era within a four-age cycle. A complete Yuga starts with the Sat Yuga (The Golden Age). Then through Treta and Dvapar Yugas, it comes into Kali Yuga (The Age of Darkness and Ignorance). Through change, we reach up to something like a Sat Yuga or the Kali Yuga. The present is the period of Kali Yuga.

Sat Yuga is considered being the holy age, in which, people lived with the true religion and were capable of attaining supreme blessedness. This era was a period of primordial peace, harmony, stability, and prosperity, because people were close to God. Likewise, Kali Yuga is taken as the age of darkness and ignorance, in which, due to lack of virtue, people will become sinners, societies will be deluded by hypocritical leaders, scriptures will be distorted, and the real wisdom will be lost.

Apparently, the former shows the best and the latter, the worst of the periods. Yet, the commonality between them is change. Change is the only constant in the Universe. It is imminent.

Nature tends to maintain a balance during the change. The “balance of nature” is a theory which proposes that ecological systems are usually in a stable equilibrium. It means a small change in one context will be corrected by an opposite context, which will bring the parameter back to its original point of balance with the rest of the system.

Thus, even when everything good was happening in the Sat Yuga, a counter-active change observed to hold a balance. Through the constant change, the best period gradually shifted to the other side of goodness, and mankind were led into the Kali Yuga, in which, right now, we are living in a phase of deep darkness.

If the context of change is small, the balancing effect is invisible. But when the context is severe, a catalytic force arises from within, which provides the necessary serenity to reverse the trend.

Guru Nanak is regarded as the God-sent benefactor on Earth to move humankind and Earth from the darkness of Kali Yuga towards a glowing golden period of Sat Yuga.

The difference between Sat Yuga and the Kali Yuga is, a vast majority of people in the former age were highly conscious. They had either attained divinity or were involved in this persuasion. Contrarily, people in the latter age do not understand much about God. Even the worshipers of God are actually unaware about its truth. They believe not because they have established a divine connection; it is due to a fear, an uncertainty, or some kind of pressure. In Kali Yuga, people have fallen away from God despite being staunch theists. This precisely is the reason for the sufferings of mankind. Or in other words, it is the punishment of living in the Kali Yuga. In such obscurity, pursuing the way of God is nearly impossible. So, how can someone obtain divinity?

Guru Nanak’s coming to this terrain is purposed to alleviate humankind and Earth from the sufferings. By the inscrutable wisdom of Guru Nanak, we will gain the insights to switch to the right direction of the change, become the change, and lead others on a transformational path. Through his intuitive vision, we will learn the truth of God and Religion in a rational manner. This will give the confidence and courage in learning our eternal reality beyond this life and attain the purpose for which we have been glorified to live in the human form. We will understand that Nature’s purpose of creating human beings is to give them the liberty and the ability to merge with the divine.

You, me, and every person living on Earth is capable to obtain the God through the instructions provided by our revered Guru Nanak. We can become the change to move humankind from the sufferings of the Kali Yuga into the bliss of the Sat Yuga. By the blessings of Guruji, through a very successful living, we will find the path of a spiritual transcendence towards realizing the God.
