Poetry Relating to Life

THE MECHANIC
By S.S. Guru Tej Singh Khalsa

When in the cylinder of Pisces, deep within your mind,
The acceleration of Aquarius begins to heat and grind
The piston of the psyche, until it glows and burns,
Then your God-tuned engine seizes, and no longer turns,
So the oil of madness leaks out and stains you through and through,
Then the only mechanic who can repair you is the Shabd Guru.

When the wheels of the personality are unbalanced and unaligned,
So that you drift across the lanes that your Destiny has defined
And you find yourself in a ditch, along this course of Grace,
With your axles bent and broken and mud upon your face;
Then the calibrated instruments that set you straight and true
Are applied by the Divine mechanic we call the Shabd Guru.

When our emotions turn inside us and our passions rock and knock
And we blow smoke from our tailpipes, dirty, black, and hot,
And our environments get polluted by exhaust we cannot burn,
Then we breath the toxic gasses that cause the Soul to return;
Sadhna is the valve-job that keeps your smoke from turning blue
And the only mechanic who can repair us is the Shabd Guru.

When the antenna of awareness get's disconnected from the mind
Then, because of static, a clear channel you cannot find,
And the sounds of anger and depression play loudly in your head,
Then the flow of Life has ended, for you are neither alive or dead.
So, to catch the tunes, you know what'cha gotta do,
Head for the Circuit City that we call the Shabd Guru.

When your lights have finally dimmed and you're almost out of gas
And with breathless acceleration you make that last attempt to pass,
If you hold on to the wheel and focus on the sound,
As you race along life's highway with the accelerator down;
When you come to pay the toll, if you keep on driving through,
Know that you won't get caught, for you've been fixed by the Shabd Guru!
