Vice President of Raj Academy Conservatoire,
Jasvir Kaur Rababan, receives MBE
in the New Year’s Honours List 2020

The Vice President of the Raj Academy Conservatoire and founder of Kaur Voices, Jasvir Kaur Rababan has been awarded an MBE by Her Majesty the Queen for services to faith, mental wellness through music therapy and reviving traditional Sikh Music globally.

It is a matter of great pride for the global Sikh community to see the world’s first female Rabab player recognised with such a prestigious honour. The Sikh Rabab is a musical instrument created by the First Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak, used to develop the art of inner communication and peace by balancing human emotions. This instrument amongst other Sikh instruments were on the verge of extinction until the establishment of the non-profit, Raj Academy Conservatoire, the world’s leading school of Sikh Music education dedicated to the revival and preservation of Sikh Music Therapy.

Raj Academy Conservatoire was founded in September 1994 by the esteemed Professor Surinder Singh to revive, preserve and promote the lost musical heritage of the Sikhs. The unwavering dedication and hard work of Professor Surinder Singh and the Raj Academy team has allowed this music and its teachings to be revived and reborn once again in the west to share, educate and spread mental wellness through Sikh music therapy.
