New Delhi, October 4— At a time when public healthcare system is in tatters and private hospitals and labs are beyond the reach of poor people, the Gurudwara Sri Bangla Sahib of Delhi is coming up with a noble humanitarian move for poor patients. It is starting a diagnostic facility where standard diagnostic facilities, including MRI will be provided at nominal price.
“Setting up the state-of-the-art advanced MRI, X-ray and ultrasound machine at Gurudwara Sri Bangla Sahib to provide services to people at just ₹50. Facility to be operational from December,” announced Manjinder Singh Sirsa, President, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, in a tweet on Saturday.

For other patients, MRI will cost Rs 800, which is still just one-third of the open market rate.
A dialysis centre is also being set up at Guru Harkrishan Hospital on the gurdwara premises. It will start functioning next week. A dialysis procedure will cost only Rs 600, Sirsa told PTI news agency.
He further said that diagnostic machines worth Rs 6 crore were donated to the hospital recently, including four machines for dialysis, and a machine each for ultrasound, X-Ray and MRI.
The noble gesture by the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara deserves huge applause and emulation by others.
During the recent Coronavirus-lockdown, Sikh Gurdwaras in Delhi and other places had provided free meals to thousands of families.
