God is not distant.  God is within us and can and does communicate with us.  In general, we know that there is some form of conscience which speaks to us, but for the most part we have not known its source, or how to make it occur more often.  Learning to communicate isn’t a long or difficult process; communication already occurs.  Learning to recognize the way this transpires will lead to an increase in the divine interchange.

Why does it occur? To guide us in daily life and on the spiritual path.

What part of the divine is it?  It is an individualized portion of divine Consciousness which resides within us all.  Its ever presence helps us traverse our lives.  This part of the divine Consciousness is different from the universal mind which functions outside of our realm of consciousness.

What has this consciousness been referred to in the past? the higher mind, the higher self, the conscience, the soul, as well as other names.

How it occurs:
Communication occurs within specific parameters.  Conveyances come through inner promptings, emotions, and insights. It comes through our intuition. Communication is not auditory.  It does not occur through spoken language, nor is it linear the way people communicate.  It comes silently and instantaneously.  It is like getting an entire concept within a second or getting an idea to a solution.

Things which are not required to communicate:

Complete surrendering of bad habits, sitting in a special place, special spiritual practices, hours of meditation, psychic abilities, years of prayer, complete silence or isolation; however, a quiet environment is beneficial to interpreting conveyances.

Prerequisites:

Being aware that communication can occur when we ask a question, and recognizing when it does occur.

What questions can we ask?

Questions that pertain to one’s self for example:  “What is a solution to a personal issue?”  “What is the best path to pursue?”  On the spiritual path: “What are my weaknesses?”  “How can I purify my mind?”  Or simply saying: “Please show me how to open my heart.”  Individuals can say anything they want to share with the divine, and establish a one to one relationship.

When will I get a response?

Conveyance can occur right away or it could take longer.  There are immediate questions which can be answered quickly, and there are questions that can be answered over time as one part of a question/solution is worked on and when a person is ready for the next step.  Response time can also vary according to the question asked, and a person’s current state.  If a person is in a stressful situation, or very busy; transmission can be conveyed at another time.  If there is something important that needs to be relayed but the conscious mind is resistant (not wanting to accept the truth) a transmission can be conveyed during the ‘sleep-to- wake-state’ when the ego is less active.  When this occurs, a person will generally not go back to sleep.  A question that a person may not really want an answer to is:  to know whether or not their spouse is cheating because knowing the truth could lead to intense suffering.  Praying to God to please show a person if their spouse is cheating, is the best way to handle this type of question.

What types of answers will we receive?

Short conveyances to life’s questions.

How to tell the difference between human thought and transmissions from the divine Consciousness:

Most human thoughts occur verbatim or word by word.  It is like talking to yourself in your mind.  Human thoughts are also much slower compared to divine transmissions which come as a complete concept within a split second.

Examples of communication:

The divine Consciousness is still (metaphorically) unless necessity occurs, or an answer is sought.  Communication which occurs through the emotions will only come through three of them:  doubt, guilt and fear.  Warnings are sent through this method.  Fear felt within our emotions will signify imminent danger or that we are about to do something wrong.  An example of a warning from the divine Consciousness could look like the following:  A person has become very angry with their ex-spouse because they took their money and will not return it.  They become filled with indignation and feel it is their right to go into their ex-spouses house when they are not there and take their money back.  Hence, they go to their ex-spouse’s home and try to find an unlocked window.  As they try to open the window, they are suddenly filled with the emotion of fear.  This feeling of fear is communication from the divine Consciousness telling the person that they are about to do something illegal.

A transmission of guilt can occur when we are about to do something that isn’t good.  It can also be sent after we have done something wrong.  When this occurs, it gives us the opportunity to change what we have done and alter our course.  A transmission of guilt can also be sent when we are about to do something that isn’t good for us such as going to eat a second piece of chocolate cake when we are on a diet.  Obsessive guilt on the other hand can be self-created.

A transmission of doubt can occur when we are deciding and we’re about to make a decision that isn’t the best choice.  If we feel uncomfortable, uncertain, or doubtful about a planned course of action, it is best to think of an alternative.  Usually, there is an outside stimulus for most emotions like happiness, sadness, anger, or grief, but for doubt and guilt, they come from seemingly nowhere.  The divine Consciousness is where they come from; they are sent to help guide us.

An example of communication by inner prompting could be as follows:  A relative is trying to take the family fortune by creating a fake will and he has forged the deceased’s signature.  In your mind you know that the signature is fake, but in order to prove the forgery you must conjure up multiple signature samples from your deceased relative.  This is now near to impossible because you are not allowed to enter your deceased relative’s home.  Then one day you have a strong desire to go to your relative’s home, and be in the backyard to reminisce of times past.  As you are in the backyard you see piles of paper and you take note of an old box of checks that happens to contain cancelled checks which have at least 12 samples of your deceased relative’s signature; which of course do not match the forged signature on the fake will.  The strong desire to go to your deceased relative’s home is communication by inner prompting from the divine Consciousness helping you to pursue truth.

Transmission by insight is perceived as an idea.  It can occur when we feel we have exhausted all possibilities to solving a problem and then suddenly a solution appears spontaneously in our mind.  People experience this quite often.  This same process can be applied to personal problems as well.  Asking a question like, “How can I reduce my monthly expenses?” will lead to a response by insight.  Once we receive a response to a question asked, the response needs to be examined to see everything that it entails.  A question to the divine such as: “How can I be more accepting towards others?” could be replied to with the insight-response: “Accept all people as your brother and sister.”  With this response we would then analyze this reply to see how it could be accomplished.  One possibility would be to start saying silently to our self every time we see a person: “That is my brother” or “That is my sister.”  At first there may be resistance to this statement, but over time as our mind opens to the possibility it becomes more comfortable.  As this process transpires, we could spend time thinking about the response statement at its core and realize that all people were created by the divine and are therefore my brother or sister.  This process is a path to acceptance.  Normally, receiving a response and analyzing it is quite fast, taking maybe only a few moments.  Response by insight is the only communication from the divine where ideas or information is conveyed.

What if there is uncertainty about a reply?

If there is confusion about a reply, analyze it and ask yourself:  Does the answer make sense?  Is the answer negative?  If an answer is unclear or unusually negative, then it is probably not a reply from the divine.  If the answer is clear, but it seems as if more time is needed to coalesce the idea into one’s consciousness, this is normal.  The divine knows when a person is confused, or in doubt and can send a transmission at another time.  In the beginning there is bound to be a little uncertainty until a person becomes accustomed to receiving answers.

What if there is no answer?

An answer is not always given to every question that is asked.  The type of question determines whether, or not an answer will be given.  If there is no reply within an hour, the first thing to do is check the initial question.  Answers come when they apply to a person’s life pursuits, and when it is important to have an answer.  Questions pertaining to the past, or future will not receive a reply, nor will questions about other people.  “Yes” or “No” questions are also not answered because a person’s strong desire for a “yes” or a “no” could influence what a person thinks the answer is.  If there is an error or preconceived idea about what a person thinks about something, for example; social, civil, or otherwise, a response will not be conveyed.

How can communication occur more often?

Pursuing a path of self-improvement or a spiritual path will bring more frequent communications.  The divine Consciousness is the spiritual teacher within, and will guide a person by revelations of guidance, and correction.  This could mean that a person is told: “Now is the time to learn control over anger.”  This is then followed by reminders when a person gets angry, and a person putting personal effort into purging oneself of this energy, and self-correction which will lead to self-control, and eventually self-mastery over this emotion.

How do I know God will hear me or is paying attention?

A question is immediately witnessed.  The divine knows every thought, emotion, and desire which a person possesses.  God is always aware and paying attention.

How to begin:

Simply by asking a question and waiting for a reply.  It will take a little practice and patience, and remembering that this process already takes place.  It is said that: “The answer is within.”  This is how the answer comes.
