In this time of the Kali Yuga, a new consciousness is being born on our planet. Out of the blood and maya, a small percentage of humanity is actively engaged in the process of waking up.

Of those who, by grace and destiny, have awakened, some have been blessed to live as teachers. Living as a teacher is something that permeates every moment of your life. It is both awareness and a life of seva.

Many are working on many levels to support and promote peace in the world. Some are healers. Some are counselors. Some feed people. Some act politically. Some are activists. Some are pacifists.

There is always an inner process within us regarding “doing” vs. “being.”  We ask ourselves, “What can I DO to help?” All the levels of being and action that serve the intent to create peace in the world are helping the process along. There is nothing “better” or “worse.” Everyone who is called to this work is doing the best that he or she can do at any given moment.

Regardless of the work being done (we all know it’s not “we” who are doing it), our own state of being and our own presence is the most effective agent of change. “Be the change you wish to see” may sound hackneyed, but it contains the most profound truth of all: We create change in the world by the thoughts we choose to think, by the words we choose to speak (and not speak) and by the actions we choose to do (and not do.)

"If your presence doesn't work, you do not work. Your presence is communication. Did you ever learn that? Your existence is your communication, and your projection is your relation. You are the power."
–Yogi Bhajan

If we can live in peace with ourselves; in peace with others; in peace with our own life; in peace with God and in the profound inner peace that passes all understanding, which comes only from complete surrender to God and Guru, then everything in our sphere of consciousness is transformed.

EARTH                    The Lever of Consciousness                     ETHER

Everyone knows Archimedes’ famous quote: “Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world.” Well, we have that lever and we have the fulcrum. The lever is our own being and the fulcrum is our inner zero point, shuniya.

The further out on the lever you exert effort, the less effort it requires to move the world. Those who consciously work from the subtle world are far out on the lever and can create huge change through the power of their meditation, prayer and presence. Though those who work from the earthly realm to achieve peace through political action are also creating change, but it requires a lot more effort the closer one gets to the physical plane.

The world is being transformed before our eyes. We are a part of it and our children are an even greater part of it. Peace is assured. It is only a matter of time. We are in the process of becoming personally and globally responsible adults.

Now is the time to embody peace in our own beings, for the nectar in life is tranquility—inner tranquility, inner peace and mental peace. Let us cultivate it through daily surrender and honoring the power of our own presence.

In an undated class, Yogi Harbhajan Singh prayed with the following prayer that says it all:

“Meditate for peace, tranquility, happiness, joy, and bliss. Feel the energy of the Sun and Moon, the Universe, all planets, all gods and goddesses, saints and sages, all good people, all kind people, all grateful people. They are all radiating their energy to you, and you are receiving peace. Fill yourself, and take a part out of the Universe and its nectar. Just meditate that the petals of the flowers are being showered on you, throughout the heavens, by all the saints and sages, holy men, gods and goddesses. People of dignity and grace and virtue are showering blessings on you. We are blessed by Guru and Gurus and by all those who came throughout time and gave the message of God. They are all radiating their light to you and you are vibrating under that radiation.”
