Wahe Guru Ji ka Khalsa, Wahe Guru Ji ki Fateh!

Dear SikhNet Family,

Ek Ong Kaar KaurMy name is Ek Ong Kaar Kaur and I wanted to share a few things with you about SikhNet. Last year, because of your generous support, SikhNet hired me as Program Director.

A big part of my job has been to help SikhNet chart a course for growth into the future.

It is difficult to imagine how many people in the world come online to SikhNet each day just to connect with their spiritual center.

Many come to SikhNet because they cannot find the inspiration they need in their communities, or in their families.

Many come to SikhNet to feel a sense of belonging.

They come to SikhNet for so many things - to ask a question, to listen to a Shabad, to find a story for their child, or to read a story about Sikhs doing positive work in the world.

Every month over half a million people come to SikhNet, through the web, through social media and through the SikhNet apps.

Read the 2014 Annual Report

Today I am writing to you to invite you to read SikhNet’s 2014 Annual Report. In a world full of infographics and sound-bites, it is not always easy to explain the depth and breadth of the work that a non-profit organization does.

I promise, it won’t take more than ten minutes to read.

Our annual report is our report to you, our shareholders. The ownership of SikhNet really belongs to you - to each of you who use it, and to each of you who invest in it through your kind contributions.

In the annual report, you will see a transparent accounting of what SikhNet received in funds, where those funds came from, and how they were spent. You will see the growth in traffic and social media that SikhNet experienced in 2014. The annual report highlights how the lives of Sikhs around the world have been touched by SikhNet services that are only possible because of your donations. And you will understand the internal investments we have made this year to prepare for our “Leap of Faith” in 2015.

As one recent donor said to us,

“Please keep up the great service. You and your team are keeping Sikhi alive and preventing the youth from going astray. When I was in my teens, I continuously read the youth forum, and this kept me on the right path. If SikhNet had not been available, I may have wandered somewhere else. I appreciate everybody's seva.”
- R. Kaur.

SikhNet turns 19 years old this year. It has served an entire generation of Sikhs, globally. We want to insure that SikhNet will continue to serve the generations of the future. For that to happen, your active participation is needed.

So please, today, take the time. SikhNet is your website. It is your online sangat. It is here to serve you, your family, your friends and your future. Please spend ten minutes reading through our annual report.

And then, please give. The future of SikhNet rests in your hands. It is only because of your generous support that this work can continue.

Feel free to contact me directly if there are any questions you have about our work this year or our plans for 2015. I would be more happy to speak with you.

May the Guru continue to Light our collective path today and always.

With Divine Light,

Ek Ong Kaar Kaur Khalsa
