The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) with support of the Sabha Societies and the Sangat, decorated a large Nagar Kirtan (religious procession) dedicated to Prakash Purb (birth anniversary) of Sri Guru Ramdas Ji, the fourth Sikh Guru. This Nagar Kirtan was started as per tradition from Akal Takht Sahib after Ardas (Sikh prayer) amid the resonance of nagara, narsingha and jaikaras.

At the start of the Nagar Kirtan, when Head Granthi of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib enshrined the holy saroop (scripture) of Guru Granth Sahib, a large number of Sangat present showered flower petals. On this occasion, Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Harpreet Singh was also present among prominent personalities. The Nagar Kirtan was taken on the traditional route of old entrance gates connecting Amritsar city, where in different places the Sangat welcomed it warmly. Sabha societies and Sangat also honoured Panj Piaras (five beloved ones) at different places and langar were also organised. The Sangat attending the Nagar Kirtan were reciting Satnam Waheguru on the route to express their devotion to the fourth Guru.

Apart from representatives of many Sabha Societies and Sangat, those present in the Nagar Kirtan included Head Granthi of Akal Takht Sahib Giani Gurmukh Singh, Giani Malkeet Singh, Giani Jaswant Singh, SGPC executive members Harjap Singh, Gurinderpal Singh, Amarjit Singh, SGPC members Bhai Rajinder Singh, Advocate Bhagwant Singh, Bhai Amarjit Singh, Jagsir Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Dharam Prachar Committee member Ajaib Singh, Sukhwarsh Singh, Baba Singh Gumanpura, Baba Satnam Singh Qila Anandgarh, President of Chief Khalsa Diwan Inderbir Singh Nijjer, DCP Parminder Singh Bhandal, federation leader Amarbir Singh, SGPC secretary Partap Singh, Bijai Singh, manager Sulakhan Singh, assistant secretary Kulwinder Singh, Harjinder Singh, and other key officials.

Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami congratulates Sangat on Prakash Purb

SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami congratulated the Sangat living across the world on the Prakash Purb of Guru Ramdas Ji, and appealed to them to take guidance from the life and teachings of Guru. He said the life of Guru Ramdas Ji is a guide to humanity in every aspect and it is the duty of every Sikh to live a life as per teachings of Gurus.

SGPC President said that from the life of the fourth Guru and his teachings, we see virtues of humility, Sewa (voluntary service), remembering True One, gentleness and tranquility, which are of great importance in making human life easy and complete. He said that on the occasion of the Guru's holy Prakash Purb, it is the supreme religious duty of all to firmly guard the Sikh doctrines and to be bearer of a life as per Guru's teaching.

Sri Harmandar Sahib decorated with flowers on occasion of Prakash Purb

On the occasion of Prakash Purb of Sri Guru Ramdas Ji, Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib was decorated with flowers brought from the country and abroad. This flower decoration with flowers of Sri Darbar Sahib complex became a center of attraction for the Sangat. The floral decoration has been done by the Sangat of Mumbai and about 30 tonne flowers have been used. For the floral decoration work, nearly 100 craftsmen from Calcutta and Delhi were deputed.
