Your Voice Matters

Some acts of courage are so profound that they leave their mark on history forever. Such is the story of the Martyrdom of Chote Sahibzde (Younger Sons of Guru Gobind Singh ji).
This is not just a story that is close to our hearts that we want to share with our youth to inspire them (which it certainly will do!), it is a universal story for humankind about bringing light to the darkness.

Few times in history has the example been made so clear as when the two younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh (Sahibzada Zorawar Singh at age 8 and Sahibzada Fateh Singh at age 6) opposed the entire empire... and did it while BEAMING.

Many sangat members contributed their voices to this epic tale and the hope was to capture a couple things: One was the boisterous and jubilant spirit of the Sahibzade, who can be heard laughing throughout. The other was to speak to any person listening, whether or not they know about Sikhi or Sikh history or if they've are a Sikh themselves. It is my belief that the teachings of the Guru both exclusive and universal. Sikhi is exclusive in that not everyone will live the lifestyle fully. It is universal in that everyone should be able to understand it's virtues regardless of their background.

So this story was told as a way to invite our youth, ourselves, and anyone who has a heart to receive it, to join the Sahibzade as children of Guru Gobind Singh and Mata Sahib as well as grandchildren of Mata Gujri ji and Guru Teg Bahadur.

One recent message was a heartwarming testament to the importance of these stories:

"My daughter has been obsessed with the SikhNet kids stories! She listens to them on our iPad for literally hours during this isolation period and it’s been a savior for me that she has something to entertain her that doesn’t make me feel guilty about.  She absorbs it all and starts conversations about deep meaningful things with me because of the things these stories make her think about. -  J. In remembrance of all those brave souls who didn't hesitate to give their lives

In honor of those young princes who beamed with cheerfulness even in the face of death

In prayer for the countless who suffer under abusive power

In humility that was may also be such brave protectors of humanity

We offer this story in the hopes that its inspiration will grow
